Simply put, person A has something they want to trade for something of equal perceived value.

Person B has some need that needs to be met and has something of value to offer in exchange for that need.

We provide a place for person A to publish their "something" and allows for person B to contact them to negotiate the exchange.  We don't broker the deal nor do we get any cut of the deal.  The only expense for members is the extraordinarily affordable listing fee we charge.
